Warner Grand Theater Study

For the Community Redevelopment Agency in 1996, CARS crafted and developed the key cultural programming for the Warner Grand Theater as a part of a larger report, the first of its kind, for this historic theater. CARS key findings for The Warner Grand study set the stage for the theater's subsequent use as a sub-regional performing arts center catering to San Pedro and the surrounding market as defined by a 10 mile radius. CARS recommended that the City of Los Angeles subsidize and operate the space and recommended a range of physical and urban contextual improvements that would be necessary for the theater. CARS analyzed the community and not-for-profit cultural context of the Warner Grand and recommended a tiered rate formula to allow for smaller arts organizations and community groups access to the theater as well as commercial ventures. Finally, CARS proposed an operations and governance plan including staffing, budgets and projected programming and attendance for five years.
