CA Forward Economic Summit
Since 2020, CARS and Night Light have produced the main stage of California Forward's Economic Summit. The Summit's bipartisan network of business, equity, environmental and civic organizations is unique in championing solutions that meet the triple bottom line — balancing equity, environmental sustainability and economic growth. Produced by California Forward in partnership with the California Stewardship Network, the Summit influences CA FWD's ongoing movement to make the government and economy work for everyone. The two-day Summit is designed to create a shared economic agenda known as the Roadmap to Shared Prosperity and strengthen the Summit network, setting the stage for collective action in 2023.
This year, Governor Gavin Newsom, former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins, and Assemblymembers Sharon Quirk-Silva, Robert Rivas, Blanca Rubio, Jim Cooper, Carlos Villapudua, and Rudy Salas joined an impressive line-up of speakers that also included Senator Anna Caballero; Paul Markovich, CEO of Blue Shield of California; Jacqueline Martinez Garcel, CEO of the Latino Community Foundation; Kate Roberts, president and CEO of the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership; Tara Lynn Gray, director of the Small Business Advocate; and, members of CA FWD's Young Leaders Advisory Council, among others.
The California Economic Summit, produced by California Forward (CA FWD) and members of its California Stewardship Network, is built upon the principle that regional approaches to economic problem solving are critical to ensuring all Californians, regardless of zip code, have the opportunity to claim their California Dream.
The Summit's priorities are directly responsive to and scaled to meet the challenges of today. Focusing on a set of specific proposals and positions where collaboratively we can make the biggest impact, the Summit develops triple-bottom-line solutions that balance racial and geographic equity, environmental sustainability and economic growth. From expanding homeownership and empowering resilient and productive landscapes, to bridging the digital divide and providing meaningful career pathways, the Summit is the only event of its kind where leaders across all sectors, industries and regions can come together to propel solution-oriented bipartisan collaboration to move the state forward.
During the past ten years, the California Economic Summit has been at the center of creating solutions that move our state forward on some of our toughest challenges. As we celebrate 10 Years Together, the 2021 Summit Playbook is the program and policy guide for the 2021 California Economic Summit.
The action agenda determined at the Summit will launch next year's Roadmap to Shared Prosperity. CARS looks forward to continuing to produce the main stage and curated talent for the CA FWD Economic Summit 2022 in Bakersfield, CA.
