Japanese American National Museum Opening Celebrations

In 1999, Community Arts Resources (CARS) collaborated and coordinated with the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) on the dedication and grand opening of JANM's new building and renovated plaza. CARS commissioned noted performance artist Hirokazu Kosaka to create a performance and installation to mark this unique event, closed 1st Street to traffic to allow for an ensemble of 100 taiko drums, and produced a range of other free events as a part of the Museum's "Welcome Weekend."
