Airport Arts Center Studios 3026

Since 2025, Community Arts Resources (CARS) has been at the heart of Studios 3026 at the Santa Monica Airport Arts Center, nurturing its growth into an energetic, sustainable gathering place for artists and the community in Santa Monica and throughout Los Angeles. Located within a cluster of historic Douglas Aircraft Company hangars, Studios 3026 is flooded with the creative energy of 34 resident artists whose work spans painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, ceramics, and mixed media. As the largest concentration of artist studios in Santa Monica, Studios 3026 has been a cornerstone of LA's creative landscape, delivering a space where inventiveness and collaboration flourish.

Over the past year, CARS has shaped a lively calendar of public programming at Studios 3026, blending major exhibitions, participatory workshops, and open-studio events that bring the community into the heart of the creative process. Notable moments include Under One Roof, a group exhibition featuring 32 artists and curated by art critic Peter Frank at the Propeller Gallery, and Graphic Resistance, a showcase of seven decades of California protest art presented with the Center for the Study of Political Graphics. Each week, programs like Susan Broussard's figurative drawing workshop and Barbara Carrasco's poster-making workshop fill the studios with energy and conversation, keeping the space open and inviting for artists and neighbors alike.

CARS continues to work closely with the Studios 3026 artist community, developing new workshops, exhibitions, and events that welcome both resident and non-resident artists, as well as the wider public, to explore, experience, and take part in the creative energy that represents this space.
