Friday Nights at the Getty

From 1999 through 2011, Community Arts Resources (CARS) curated and produced 77 one-night performances at the Harold J. Williams Auditorium for the series "Friday Night at the Getty." The concerts, readings, and performances were free to the public and were designed to highlight Los Angeles as the home of world-class talent. Highlights of these past performances include Eric Idle of Monty Python fame, Richard Thompson, Van Dyke Parks, John Doe, Kamau Da'ood, Tony-award winner Stew and the Negro Problem, the Un-Cabaret, a tribute to the late Johnny Cash, Money Mark, the recreation of the concert from the film "A Mighty Wind" live onstage, Joe Henry, Sam Phillips, Iris Dement, Cowboy Jack Clement, Maura O'Connell, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Inara George, Marisela Norte with MacArthur "Genius" awardee Josh Kun, Peter Case, Ann Savoy, Martha Wainwright and El Vez as well as many others.
