If you've never heard of High Performance magazine, you're in for a treat! From the late '70s through the '90s, it was one of the only places in the world documenting experimental performance art: the work happening in the streets, in galleries, and on the fringes that many (if not most) institutions ignored. It launched careers like Guillermo Gómez-Peña, Coco Fusco, and James Luna. And now the Getty is hosting the first-ever large-scale gathering to reckon with what it meant.

The day runs from morning panels to evening performances, with artists, curators, and scholars in conversation about performance as protest, radical publishing, and the effort it takes to keep this kind of work alive.
