The long-standing relationship between the City of Santa Monica and Community Arts Resources (CARS) has proven CARS to be the perfect team of event producers to activate one of the City’s most prized destinations: Tongva Park. Celebrating the intricate spaces of the park, CARS produced a series of free, diverse, intimate and informal events that offered audiences the opportunity to come together and experience the park from different points of view through dance, concerts, and more. This season of "Tongva After Dark" and "Tongva Family Saturdays" featured performance acts such as site-specific dance work by noted Los Angeles choreographer Lionel Popkin, traditional sounds of the Ancient Americas with instrument-maker, Martin Espino, and an inter-generational movement workshop with Family Dance Jam
