Community Arts Resources (CARS) worked with the City of Garden Grove to develop and produce an open streets event that celebrated downtown Garden Grove as the living room of its community and captured the melting pot of cultures found within the city. On Sunday, October 12, thousands of people filled three miles of car-free streets in downtown Garden Grove for Re:Imagine Garden Grove – A Downtown Open Streets Event. Through multicultural programs and performances, art installations, interactive workshops, a culinary stage, a downtown destinations discount program, food and craft vendors, children’s activities and car-free streets for walking and biking, Re:Imagine Garden Grove was a result of a comprehensive approach of production. By combining cultural event programming and engaged community development to spearhead the rebranding of downtown Garden Grove, CARS showcased the cultural diversity of the area and filled the pedestrian-only zones with unique community experiences for all to enjoy.
